Type ONe
HOW THEY MANIPULATE
Enneagram Type 1, also known as the Perfectionist or Reformer, can sometimes manipulate others in order to achieve their goals. However, unlike some other Enneagram types, manipulation is not typically a central or frequent behavior for Type 1.
When Type 1s do manipulate, it is usually in a more subtle way, rather than using overt tactics like lying or deceit. Here are some ways in which Type 1s may manipulate:
Using guilt: Type 1s may use guilt to manipulate others into doing what they want. They may make others feel responsible for their mistakes or shortcomings, or may use a sense of moral obligation to make others comply with their wishes.
Using rules and standards: Type 1s may use rules and standards to manipulate others into doing what they want. They may use their knowledge of rules and regulations to gain an advantage or to enforce their own agenda.
Criticizing and correcting: Type 1s may use criticism or correction to manipulate others into changing their behavior. They may point out others' mistakes or shortcomings in order to make them feel guilty or ashamed and to motivate them to change.
Using their reputation: Type 1s may use their reputation for being responsible, dependable, and moral to manipulate others. They may use their reputation to gain others' trust or to make others feel guilty if they do not comply with their wishes.
It's important to note that not all Type 1s engage in manipulative behavior, and that manipulation is not a defining characteristic of this Enneagram type. However, when Type 1s do engage in manipulation, it is often motivated by a desire to maintain order and control in their lives and in the world around them.
