Type two
Vice
In Enneagram theory, the vice of Type 2, also known as the Helper or the Giver, is often described as pride or pridefulness. Type 2s may be highly attuned to the needs and emotions of others, and may struggle with feeling needed or appreciated.
Type 2s may be prone to seeking out relationships or interactions in which they can be helpful or supportive to others, and may derive a sense of self-worth or identity from their ability to care for and serve others. They may be highly sensitive to criticism or rejection, and may struggle with setting boundaries or asserting their own needs or desires. Type 2s may also be prone to seeking out praise or validation from others, as a way to reinforce their own sense of self-worth.
The vice of pride or pridefulness can manifest in a variety of ways for Type 2s, such as becoming overly focused on helping or caring for others at the expense of their own needs or well-being, becoming overly invested in the approval or validation of others, or developing a sense of entitlement or superiority in relation to their own helpfulness or service to others. While Type 2s may value their own generosity and compassion, their preoccupation with pride can also lead to a lack of self-care or self-awareness.
It is important for Type 2s to recognize and address their tendencies towards pride or pridefulness, and to cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness and self-care. This may involve learning to recognize and assert their own needs and desires, practicing self-validation and self-care, and developing a more balanced and grounded approach to their own relationships and interactions. By embracing a more self-aware and authentic approach to their lives, Type 2s can overcome their tendency towards pride and achieve greater fulfillment and satisfaction.
