Type three
Vice
In Enneagram theory, the vice of Type 3, also known as the Achiever or the Performer, is often described as deceit or deceitfulness. Type 3s may be highly focused on achieving success or recognition, and may struggle with feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt.
Type 3s may be prone to presenting a polished or idealized image of themselves to others, as a way to gain approval or admiration. They may be highly attuned to the expectations of others, and may adapt their behavior or persona to fit in with different social contexts or situations. Type 3s may also be prone to dismissing or suppressing their own emotions or needs, as a way to maintain their own sense of productivity or success.
The vice of deceit or deceitfulness can manifest in a variety of ways for Type 3s, such as becoming overly focused on external success or recognition, sacrificing their own values or beliefs in order to fit in or gain approval, or presenting a false or inauthentic image of themselves to others. While Type 3s may value their own drive and ambition, their preoccupation with achievement and external validation can also lead to a lack of authenticity or connection in their own lives and relationships.
It is important for Type 3s to recognize and address their tendencies towards deceit or deceitfulness, and to cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness and authenticity. This may involve learning to recognize and express their own emotions and needs, practicing self-validation and acceptance, and developing a more grounded and authentic approach to their own experiences and relationships. By embracing a more authentic and self-aware approach to their lives, Type 3s can overcome their tendency towards deceit and achieve greater fulfillment and satisfaction.
