Type Four

INSTIncTS

The Enneagram Type 4 personality, also known as "The Individualist," has three different instinctual subtypes or variants: self-preservation, social, and sexual.

  1. Self-Preservation Fours: These Fours are focused on their own physical well-being and security. They may be very attuned to their own emotions and needs, and may prioritize self-care and making sure that they feel comfortable and safe in their environment. They may also be very artistic and creative, and may use their artistic expression as a way of connecting with themselves and others.

  2. Social Fours: These Fours are focused on building and maintaining relationships within their community or social group. They may be very empathetic and sensitive to the emotions of others, and may use their artistic talents to connect with others on a deeper level. They may also be very focused on their own identity and sense of uniqueness, and may seek out others who share their values and perspectives.

  3. Sexual Fours: These Fours are focused on building intense and passionate connections with others. They may be very expressive and intense in their romantic relationships, and may seek out partners who can match their emotional intensity. They may also be very focused on their own desires and fantasies, and may use sex as a way of expressing their unique identity and self-expression.

It's important to note that these instinctual subtypes are not mutually exclusive, and many people may have elements of all three subtypes in their personality. Understanding your dominant subtype can help you better understand your motivations and behaviors, and can also help you develop healthier relationships with others.
