Type eight

INSTIncTS

The Enneagram Type 8 personality, also known as "The Challenger," has three different instinctual subtypes or variants: self-preservation, social, and sexual.

  1. Self-Preservation Eights: These Eights are focused on their own physical well-being and security. They may be very independent and self-sufficient, and may prioritize taking care of their own needs before the needs of others. They may also be very protective of their resources and may feel most comfortable in stable and secure environments.

  2. Social Eights: These Eights are focused on building and maintaining relationships within their community or social group. They may be very assertive and confident, and may use their power and influence to help others. They may also be very concerned about social justice and may want to use their strength and authority to advocate for the rights of others.

  3. Sexual Eights: These Eights are focused on building intense and passionate connections with others. They may be very assertive and dominant in their romantic relationships, and may seek out partners who can match their intensity and passion. They may also be very focused on physical intimacy and sexual pleasure, and may use sex as a way of expressing their power and control.

It's important to note that these instinctual subtypes are not mutually exclusive, and many people may have elements of all three subtypes in their personality. Understanding your dominant subtype can help you better understand your motivations and behaviors, and can also help you develop healthier relationships with others.
