Type nine

HOW THEY MANIPULATE

It is important to note that all Enneagram types are capable of both healthy and unhealthy behavior, and manipulative behavior is not limited to Type 9. However, Type 9, also known as the Peacemaker or the Mediator, has a tendency to manipulate others in order to avoid conflict and maintain their sense of peace and harmony.

One way that Type 9s may manipulate others is by avoiding confrontation or difficult conversations. They may use passive-aggressive behavior, such as sulking or withdrawing, as a way of avoiding conflict or getting their way. This can create a sense of emotional manipulation in others, as they may feel like their concerns or needs are being ignored or dismissed.

Another way that Type 9s may manipulate others is by giving in too easily. They may agree to things that they do not really want or need, in order to maintain their sense of harmony and avoid conflict. This can create a sense of obligation or guilt in the other person, making them more likely to give in to the Type 9's requests in the future.

Type 9s may also manipulate others by using their empathy and understanding as a tool. They may use their natural ability to see multiple perspectives to convince others to see things their way, or to avoid conflict altogether. This can create a sense of emotional manipulation in others, as they may feel like they are being guilted or pressured into seeing things from the Type 9's perspective.

It is important to note that these manipulative behaviors are not necessarily conscious or malicious on the part of the Type 9. They may stem from a deep-seated need for peace and harmony, and a fear of conflict or disconnection. However, it is important for Type 9s to be aware of these tendencies and work to develop healthier ways of maintaining their sense of peace without manipulating others. This can involve learning to communicate their needs and boundaries in a more direct and assertive way, and developing a stronger sense of self-worth and self-validation.
